About Heather
Heather Elisofon, LMSW, CCATP, is a Licensed Master Social Worker who brings a rich tapestry of life experience to her therapeutic work. With an MSW from Utica University (2024) and specialized training as a Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional, Heather has spent years supporting individuals through anxiety and depression, trauma and loss, adoption and foster care dynamics, family and social challenges, adolescent struggles, and developmental and educational concerns. Long before becoming a therapist, Heather lived the role of helper as a mom, foster parent, adoptive parent, mentor, and teacher—roles that taught her how to truly see people and support them in making the most of their lives despite hardship. Her decision to pursue therapy was the natural culmination of a lifetime spent guiding others toward healing and growth.
Heather practices from a client-driven, person-centered philosophy rooted in the belief that you are the expert on your own life. Her role is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can collaborate on your healing journey. Drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), and play therapy, she works with children, teens, and adults to explore the deep interconnection between feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. Heather understands that past trauma—often hidden in the unconscious—can profoundly shape current reactions, and she is skilled at bringing those patterns into the light so you can address the root of distress rather than just its symptoms. For Heather, the most rewarding moments are the "light bulb" insights—when clients suddenly understand the "why" behind their feelings and begin reclaiming control and empowerment over their lives.
Outside the therapy room, Heather treasures time with her husband, their five children, and their significant others. She's known for orchestrating "forced fun" family camping trips each summer and hosting lively game nights that bring everyone together. She also finds joy in coffee dates with her best friends, where they laugh through life's unpredictability, and in quiet moments at home with her two Saint Bernards—one of whom is a certified therapy dog who has brought comfort to countless people. A fun piece of Heather's story: she began college as a music major and vocalist, only to return after her third child was born and shift her focus to psychology—a transition that she feels perfectly captured who she was always meant to become.

Fun Fact
I started college as a music major and vocalist right out of high school. Later, after my third child was born, I returned to school and shifted my focus to psychology—perfectly fitting. :)
