About Alisha
Alisha Yox, LMSW, primarily works with children who have experienced trauma, role confusion, and difficult life transitions such as divorce, adoption, and foster care. These experiences can deeply shape a child's sense of identity, safety, and belonging. Alisha provides a consistent, compassionate space where their voice matters.
Alisha believes healing begins when a child feels safe enough to tell their story. Through developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed care, she helps children make sense of their experiences, strengthen their resilience, and rediscover their capacity for growth. She sees therapy as a collaborative process — not something done to a child, but something built together.
Alisha earned her MSW from Daemen University in 2025 and holds specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). She was inspired to become a therapist by her experience with the foster care system and wanting to be the person she needed growing up.
At the heart of Alisha's philosophy is this truth: every person needs a person. Someone who sees them, believes in them, and stands beside them — no matter how young or how old. What she finds most rewarding is witnessing transformation — seeing a child who once felt unheard begin to use their voice, watching fear shift into confidence, and observing resilience take root where pain once lived.
