Meet Joseph A. Cicatello, also known as Joey (He/Him), a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the state of New York (#115602). With over 3 years of professional experience in the mental health field, Joey has made significant contributions to the well-being of adolescents (12+) and adults.

 

Education & Credentials:
 

Joey earned his Master’s degree from Buffalo State University and University at Buffalo, graduating in 2021. His clinical expertise is enhanced by specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and more.

Joey specializes in working with individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, and challenges related to adjustment and life transitions. His versatile skill set allows him to support diverse populations effectively, particularly adolescents and adults.

Rooted in a humanistic philosophy, Joey believes in the power of collaboration between client and provider. He focuses on creating an environment where clients feel heard, seen, and supported, emphasizing individualized care tailored to each person's unique journey. Joey is passionate about helping clients set, plan, and achieve their goals, and he continually innovates his therapeutic techniques to enhance outcomes.

When asked about his inspiration for becoming a therapist, Joey shared, "I am a person doing very peoplely things. I believe that everyone deserves a chance to be heard, seen, and supported. Helping clients create, plan, and achieve their goals is always a journey I am proud to be a part of."

Joey finds the most rewarding part of his work in those transformative "ah-ha moments" when clients gain new insights and begin to pioneer their own life trajectories.

 

Outside of Work:

 

When he’s not providing therapy, Joey loves spending time outdoors, embracing nature and the fresh air. A fun fact about Joey? He is a twin!
