Jessica Lynn Bennett, LMSW, is a compassionate and skilled therapist dedicated to supporting adolescents, adults, and LGBTQ+ individuals in navigating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and identity-related challenges. With over three years of experience, Jess combines evidence-based interventions with a warm, collaborative approach to help clients build resilience and confidence in their daily lives.

Jess earned their Master’s degree from Binghamton University in 2020 and is currently working toward DBT certification to further enhance their therapeutic practice. They also hold a degree from Ithaca College School of Music (2012), bringing a creative and insightful perspective to their work.

Therapeutic Approach & Philosophy

Jess specializes in DBT-informed therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing, with a strong emphasis on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns (ANTS). Their approach focuses on practical coping strategies, often referring to these as "Coping Skills Greatest Hits"—including progressive muscle relaxation, breathing exercises, and other mindfulness techniques.

With a goal-oriented and client-centered focus, Jess works alongside individuals to set attainable goals and develop actionable steps to achieve them. Their approach emphasizes self-compassion, empowerment, and skill-building, ensuring that clients feel supported while making meaningful progress.

For Jess, therapy is about helping clients unlock their potential and embrace their journey toward self-discovery. They love seeing clients gain confidence, insight, and a stronger sense of self, which allows them to navigate life’s challenges with greater ease and resilience.

Jess sees therapy as an opportunity to help others make sense of their experiences and emotions while developing tools for long-term growth. Their passion for mental health stems from a deep commitment to inclusivity, understanding, and creating safe spaces for all individuals.

Beyond the Therapy Room

​

Outside of their clinical work, music is a huge part of Jess’s life! They are passionate about learning, creating, and exploring new ways to express themselves through sound. Currently, they're on a journey to teach themselves how to (healthily!) perform metal screams—a unique skill that showcases their dedication to self-improvement and creativity.
